Martin Toomey (48) had his first heart attack two years ago. He experienced pain in his chest which he thought at first was indigestion; however the pain persisted for several days.
"I was doubled over with pain. It felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest. I felt dizzy, short of breath and I had pain down my arms."
Consequently, Martin underwent an angioplasty and had two stents put in. In April 2008, he had another heart attack so had to have a second angioplasty and another stent put in.
Martin's family has a history of heart disease with both of his parents having stents inserted. He also lost his brother to a heart attack a young age.
"My brother Perry was only 36 years old when he died of a heart attack 10 years ago. He never had a day off work for 20 years and he had no signs of illness."
